Program Overview

The Agri-Food Immigration Pilot helps address the labor needs of the Canadian agri-food sector by providing a pathway to permanent residence for experienced, non-seasonal workers in specific industries and occupations. This pilot recognizes the valuable contributions of agri-food workers to Canada's economy.

Eligible Industries

  • Meat processing
  • Year-round mushroom production
  • Year-round greenhouse crop production
  • Animal production (excluding aquaculture)

Eligible Occupations

Specific NOC codes in:

  • Retail butchers
  • Industrial butchers
  • Farm supervisors and specialized livestock workers
  • General farm workers
  • Harvesting laborers

Eligibility Requirements

  • Job Offer: Full-time, non-seasonal job offer in an eligible industry and occupation
  • Work Experience: At least 12 months of full-time, non-seasonal Canadian work experience in the agri-food sector within the last 3 years
  • Education: Canadian high school diploma or educational credential assessment for foreign education
  • Language: Meet minimum language requirements (CLB 4 for NOC TEER 4 and 5 jobs, CLB 5 for NOC TEER 2 and 3 jobs)
  • Intent to Live: Intention to live outside Quebec

Application Process

Gain Canadian Work Experience

Accumulate at least 12 months of eligible work experience in the agri-food sector.

Secure Job Offer

Obtain a permanent, full-time job offer in an eligible occupation.

Meet Language & Education Requirements

Take language tests and complete educational credential assessment if needed.

Submit Application

Apply for permanent residence with all required documentation.

Important Note

The Canadian work experience must be gained in Canada with proper work authorization. You cannot use work experience gained outside Canada for this pilot program.
