Overview

The Atlantic Immigration Program is a permanent pathway for skilled foreign workers and international graduates to work and live in one of the Atlantic provinces:

New Brunswick
Nova Scotia
Prince Edward Island
Newfoundland and Labrador

Program Status

This program replaced the Atlantic Immigration Pilot in 2021 and is now a permanent immigration pathway.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Work Experience (Skilled Worker Stream)

At least 1,560 hours (one year) of paid work experience in the last five years
Experience must be in TEER 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4

2. International Graduate Stream

No work experience required
Must have completed 2 years of study at a recognized post-secondary institution in Atlantic Canada
Must have lived in the province for at least 16 months during the last 2 years of study

3. Job Offer Requirements

Full-time, non-seasonal job
From a designated employer
Job must be in TEER 0–4 and match the applicant's ability

4. Language Requirements

TEER 0–3: CLB 5
TEER 4: CLB 4

5. Education Requirements

Foreign education requires an ECA (unless graduated in Canada)

6. Proof of Funds

Required unless already working in Canada with a valid work permit

Application Process

Get a Valid Job Offer

Secure a valid job offer from a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces.

Employer Obtains Provincial Endorsement

Your employer must obtain a provincial endorsement certificate from the province.

Submit PR Application to IRCC

Submit your permanent residence application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Optional: Apply for Temporary Work Permit

You can apply for a temporary work permit while your PR is being processed.
