Overview

A community-driven program designed to bring skilled workers to smaller rural and northern communities. The RNIP was created to help spread the benefits of economic immigration to smaller communities by creating a path to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers who wanted to work and live in participating communities.

Eligibility (While Active)

  • A valid full-time job offer from a participating community
  • One year of skilled work experience (or a Canadian post-secondary degree)
  • Meet language and settlement fund requirements

Process (When Program Was Open)

Get a Job Offer

Secure a job offer from a community employer in a participating community.

Apply for Community Recommendation

Submit application to the community for their recommendation.

Apply for Permanent Residence

Apply for permanent residence through IRCC with community recommendation.
